I write what the beat says.”

Debut EP, The Path

Out of the Heart of Georgia with a sprinkle of Texas swag, New York attitude and UK properness comes Jasi Witherspoon, musically known as J. Sariah, a singer/songwriter merging an old school storytelling style of songwriting with a blend of Hip Hop beats and Neo Soul vibes. Her unique sound showcases the real emotional experiences that surround each song. After graduating from California University of Pennsylvania in 2017, she was expected to immediately enter the pro tennis circuit but music took her in a different direction. A passion for music has always been present in this 22-year old’s life, she began writing songs in middle school as a way of escaping stressful times. She comes from a musical family of music producers which cultivated her knack for writing to beats.

The Path, her debut EP, is composed of five tracks that describe the progression though some key points and experiences from her past and the various ups and downs that follow all relationships. The opening song "FriendZone" covers the excitement of meeting a new person and the drama that sometimes surrounds that introduction. This track has a catchy hook and solid dance beat. The second track "Swish" covers a newly blossomed relationship where the couple is clearly head over heels in love and not ashamed to show it to the world. Trouble in paradise is evident in the third track "Change," where she is starting to question the relationship. "Revenge," the fourth track on the album is sure to leave a mark on anyone that’s been hurt in a relationship before with its strong vocals and karma filled lyrics. The album ends with "Whippin," a catchy party song that reflects on Miami-Life during her first years of college and freedom from the constraints of a serious relationship.

J. Sariah recorded “The Path” over the first quarter of 2018 produced/engineered by Houston duo 3Bubble & J. Gray of LFTP, and is set to drop in May 2018. The EP is a precursor to her LP coming later in the year entitled “The Journey.” Both albums tell her story of her life experiences through love and hate and the successful progression to where she is presently.
